Commendations poured in for the George Aluo-led board of the Nigeria National League (NNL) during the league’s third Annual Awards Ceremony held in Abuja.
The event celebrated outstanding players, referees, and officials of Nigeria’s second-tier football league.
Representing NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, First Vice President Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu lauded the NNL board’s innovative strides, urging them to “keep at the pace in order to take the ‘most important league’ to new heights.”
NFF Second Vice President and NPFL Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, praised the league’s progress toward full private-sector club participation. “The NNL is on the right track,” he said, while calling for more private sector engagement in club ownership and management.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, affirmed the federation’s confidence in the Aluo-led board: “The NFF has no regrets in putting the board in charge.” He also invited First Bank PLC to partner with the NNL as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.
Former NFF President Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi applauded the unity between league bodies and the NFF, commending the current leadership for its grassroots football focus.
NNL Chairman George Aluo thanked stakeholders for their support, stating: “These Awards are a way of encouraging good performances and good conduct… to inculcate the spirit of competition.”
NNL CEO Emmanuel Attah shared insights on partnerships with ProStar Recreational Services and Sportslights Hub, urging continued collaboration as the league gains wider visibility.
