The former Secretary to the Kano State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, has launched a scathing attack on the current administration under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, accusing it of gross mismanagement and corruption exceeding that of the previous government.

In a viral video, Bichi claimed that the current administration has committed far more infractions than former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who was previously accused of corruption during his eight-year tenure.

“All that we alleged Ganduje did wrong during his eight years, this government has done ten times over in just two years,” Bichi said. “We only suspected Ganduje, but for this one, we have evidence. They have committed ten times as much in less than two years.”

Bichi hinted that the administration may not survive until the 2027 elections due to growing public discontent, pledging to lead the charge in exposing the government’s alleged wrongdoings.

“Let’s thank God, their days are numbered. We will chase them out, they might not even reach 2027. When we started talking, they will run away. Especially me, when I start going to the radio with evidence, they will run,” he said.

In recent weeks, Bichi, along with 14 others, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where they were warmly welcomed by party leaders at both the state and national levels.

Bichi was dismissed by the incumbent Kano State Government on health grounds, although this reason was met with public scepticism. There were suspicions that he had led a campaign that pitched his principal, Governor Yusuf, against the governor’s political godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

His former party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano, had suspended him and a commissioner over allegations of disloyalty and abuse of power.

In response to the allegations, the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, dismissed them as baseless, asserting that they could not be substantiated.

“Let him prove it if it’s true,” Waiya said.
