Kano elections: Residents defy restriction rules, COVID-19 protocols
Kano residents shunned COVID-19 protocols
Kano residents shunned COVID-19 protocols and restriction rules on Saturday as local governments election hold in all the local government areas of the state.
Daily Trust reports that vehicles have been moving, and residents have been going on with their daily movements in virtually all the major roads of the city, with almost zero security presence to impose the restriction of movement order.
However, security vehicles, especially those of policemen, are seen moving around without enforcing the restriction rule.
Also, in all the polling units visited, including in Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s village where he voted, social distancing as well as other COVID-19 protocols were not observed.
Voters were seen casting their votes without face masks.
In some units where voting is yet to commence, residents have taken to playing football on the streets and roads.
